Appointed Chief Sustainability Officer in 2020, Josh Raglin leads Norfolk Southern’s enterprise-wide sustainability strategy, integrating environmentally responsible practices into daily operations to drive efficiency, reduce costs, generate revenue and minimize environmental impacts. His leadership emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with internal departments and engagement with external stakeholders including customers, investors, suppliers and railroad partners.
Raglin began his career with Norfolk Southern in 1996 as a Forest Ranger at Brosnan Forest, the company’s 14,400-acre research and conference facility in South Carolina. He was named General Manager of Brosnan Forest in 2006, where he spearheaded the development of a nature-based solutions platform.
In 2025, Environmental Finance named Raglin Sustainable Business Leader of the Year.
Raglin holds a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology from Oklahoma State University and completed the executive development program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
